Unfortunately for me and probably others, it's the best and sometimes only way of connecting with family and old friends.

For instance I grew up near my Aunt and Uncle and we spent lots of holidays and vacations together when I was younger. They have since moved across the country. Texting and phone calls don't really work with the time zone difference. We have tried emails but those have flaws too if you start grouping in other family members. Facebook is the only way currently to make sure we stay in touch. I would love for a new alternative but until then, Facebook is a necessity.
