He is undoubtely one of the most legendary investors of all time. He has always been against btc. Around 6 years ago he said he would short it over the next 5 years if there was a way to do so.

But why? He doesn't really have much to gain from being openly against it. If bitcoin goes to zero people will say "yeah Warren Buffet was right about bitcoin..." but if it becomes a global currency at some point in the future, long after Buffet's death people will remember him as someone who couldn't understand the idea and was stuck in his fiat mindset until his death.

Even if the chance of bitcoin becoming the global currency and replacing the US Dollar was only 0.1% it shouldn't be worth risking his entire legacy in the last few years of his life.

Imo it's just not worth the risk. He could simply say something like "it's an idea with potential but I think it's too volatile and unpredictable which is why I don't invest in it".

In that case he would still stay true to his investment philosophy without risking his entire legacy.
