They've tried, trust me. I've applied everywhere across the country for on-site jobs asking for only 50-60k just to get my foot in the door. Northwest, Midwest, the South, New England, DC Metro, Denver, Salt Lake City, Austin, super rural like Montana/Wyoming/Idaho, etc. Tried DoD and state government positions. Absolutely no response with ABET accredited bachelor's of CS and masters of CS thats in progress. I imagine some will only settle for "elite" positions, but most probably just want to not be unemployed. I only ever wanted to hit like 120k at senior level, but I can't even get in for the bare minimum I'd need to live off to be on my own.

Currently waiting on a response for an internship I applied for next summer that pays like $16/hr in rural NY that a recruiter messaged me about on Handshake. My best friend told me he'd help me with my bills just so I could do the internship if I get it. Apparently their full time pay is like 90-110k for my major and it's in a field I'm extremely interested in. Hope it works out.
