It may be bad now, but I think there might be better odds of me landing a job if AI doesn’t live up to its hype and when the economy gets better in a year or two year. I have a connection in a company who is waiting to see when he can hire another junior dev and was interested in interviewing me when that time comes. This economy is one where it seems knowing people matters more than what you know.

But even still, the more skills I have then the more options I’ll have when the economy gets better. I’d rather be over-prepared than not prepared at all. Not like I’m losing anything if it doesn’t work out.
