It's due to how CEO bonuses are calculated. People dont hold stock in a business for years, they buy, then sell out hard. Since pensions dont exist and there's no incentive to keep a CEO around more than the 3-6 months to fuck with it for a quick buck there's no reason to have stable growth.
As usual capitalism is the issue, realistically we need price controls and availability on all staple goods and increasing the list of staple goods as socialization of such becomes available.
