Both sides use the atrocities committed by Japan as a political tool. Korea, as you say, brings it up every few years. Sometimes they will manage to extract an apology from Japan.. which is then undermined when a high ranking Japanese official honors the memorials of convicted war criminals, or when they go back and state that there were no comfort women and all of them were there voluntarily.

Korea should stop trying to get apologies out of Japan, but only after Japan owns up to its past mistakes and stops walking back on this shit
