the price tag for such a system like you mentioned will be similar to the price tag china ran with its entire system because they did not have the issue of having to pay the landowners to use the land to build tracks, higher worker salaries etc.
already mentioned in my other post. air travel accounts for a measly 2.5% of global co2 pollution. this should be redirected with intracity public transit, where the actual traffic jams are. there are no jams on the I-10 in the middle of arizona
