Actually the revisionist history is being done by pro Palestine people on social media. Truly scary. Reminds me of the Lost Cause from post American Civil War when confederates tried to change their history, and to the surprise many people still believe it.

The area was correctly named British Mandate for Palestine for centuries but the locals referred to themselves as Arabs. The Palestinian identity started coming up through Post Israel statehood.

The area was called Palestine by the Romans who named it after the Philistines, ancient enemy of the Jews, who lived in the area under the name Judea, hence why Jews are called Jews.

The area is also known at the Levant.
