I own mineral rights that have wells extracting on right now. I can attest that while gasoline prices have gone way up, natural gas has gone way down. Not as bad as earlier this year, but still way low.

Natural gas has a similar issue to coal - it can be expensive to transport relative to its market price. At least natural gas can be transported by pipeline, but transporting overseas requires specialized vessels that are pretty close to single purpose, which means they aren’t transporting goods both ways.
