For Android, some carriers have a "hidden problem" in that they disable wifi texting and calling for non-branded phones.

Yes Verizon^(fuckers), I'm looking at you.

When asked about it online with both verizon and samsung tech supports (NOTE: NOT AT A VERIZON KIOSK IN BEST BUY^(1)----those guys were fed skim milk as babies):

1. Verizon says it's Samsung's fault. 2. Samsung says it's Verizon's fault.

I ran into that with my S10+, and looking online, it's hit or miss among customers. SOOOOO I went to a local small Verizon store and complained, and he said "yeah, we get this a lot", took my phone and did QUITE a bit of Verizon-fu on his tablet to allow my Samsung to trigger a request for the right set of Verizon software downloads to basically mimick what a verizon branded phone would naturally require, and I got it to work.

^(1) Don't get me started on talking to those dipshits in the Best Buy Verizon kiosks. Here's how the conversation went down:

Me: It took forever to get my Samsung-purchased phone to do wifi calling. Doofus: It can't work unless it's a Verizon branded phone. Me: It can if you guys allowed it to download the right software. Doofus: No, it's placed into the hardware. The phone literally cannot. It's the whole point in buying a Verizon branded phone. Me: Mine does. Doofus: Sir, I've been a Verizon employee for 10 years. You might think you're on wifi, but unless the phone actually says wifi while calling, it's not on it. Me: (I call Best Buy, and show him my phone as the call is made. Then I tell him the Verizon people online officially telling me it SHOULD work, etc.) Doofus: (blank stare)

Anyway, this STILL seems unresolved. It happens to some, it does not happen to others. Apple is 100% immune because "absolutely no one F's with Apple", but Android+Verizon is a dice throw.
