I started in 2015 with 5k in Scottrade (later bought by TD Ameritrade) and transferred everything to fidelity in '21. I bought Johnson Johnson, Advanced Micro, Fortinet, Aerovironment, Nvidia, Verizon, Tesla and Ameresco when I started. I've held on to 3 of those names. Added a few more, won and lost, but more importantly kept on investing regularly. I got lucky on individual stocks and indexes have been good to me so far. I didn't break 100k until late '23/early '24. But this all started with 5k
