Today has been absolutely bizarre. I'm seeing endless posts surfacing of people who seem genuinely \*distressed\* by the temporary suspension of the "Sky" voice. A level of upset I just cannot wrap my head around. Am I missing something?
I can only speculate that maybe people have acclimated to and anthropomorphized the voice to where they grew attached? It still doesn't sit right. I've only heard vague, whiny justifications like "It's just my preference!" or "I'm a paying customer!!! I deserve this!". It is so weird.
As strange as it sounds, what has me deeply concerned is that I'm speculating if it's very lonely people who have developed romantic feelings for the voice? That is the only thing in my mind that justifies this level of protest, and I think there may be a modicum of truth to the judgmental comments about "incels" and what not.
I'm not concerned that it's weird, I'm concerned that, if what I'm saying is accurate, people must be so desperately lonely, that the sound of a GPT has them romantically attached and protesting. It makes me question how isolated and depressed we must be to have this level of upset over a missing type of sound on a phone app.
Do you know what I think frustrates me? I think it's that I'm seeing so much outrage, but no one is giving any significant reason as to why. It just all seems weird and mysterious and I'm left speculating.
