My company has a jigsaw puzzle at work - it was custom made for our ten year anniversary. We were planning to frame it when completed, but the issue is the bottom 1/4th of the puzzle is mostly black, though there is some occasional color differentiation. The pieces themselves are quite similar as well. So unfortunately the puzzle has gone unfinished for quite a while now.
GPT4o being so multimodal I was curious if this could be used? This is the prompt I've come up with so far:
*I have a WIP puzzle that is very difficult to complete because most of the remaining pieces are a solid color. Can you help? Here's my proposed plan:*
1. ***Completed Puzzle Reference***\*: I will attach a high-definition (HD) image of the completed puzzle, which will serve as our reference.\* 2. ***Detailed Grid Overlay***\*: The completed puzzle image will be overlaid with a detailed grid, divided into 20 rows and 20 columns, creating 400 quadrants. Each quadrant will be labeled with a combination of letters and numbers (e.g., A1, B2, C3) for precise placement instructions.\* 3. ***Current Progress Image***\*: I will attach a top-down HD image of the WIP puzzle to show the current progress. This will help you understand which areas are already completed and where the remaining pieces need to be placed.\* 4. ***Piece Identification Grid***\*: Additionally, I will provide a square grid, 26 rows (A-Z) by 26 columns (1-26), with each square containing one puzzle piece. This grid will allow you to reference specific pieces when giving placement instructions.
So far the GPT seems on board. I even asked it to use edge detection to export an image highlighting all the puzzle pieces, and it did do decent, especially on the pieces that were isolated.
Has anybody tried anything similar?
