It is no longer seen as the right thing because it is a easy way to set your life up for poverty. In this economy you basically need a college degree to get anywhere, so that's an extra 5 yrs on top. After you graduate you are not only broke but heavy in debt. So you have to work a couple of years just to get ahead of that debt.. and god forbid even the slightest thing goes wrong and you spiral down into even more debt.
