I have every sympathy for the Gazan people. However, they elected a majority Hamas government, they didn't rise up when Hamas imposed its own police force, or when it imposed its own military.

They have remained quiescent over street beatings and executions, millions of rocket launches, and tolerated the fact their own government steals all the money and the steals all the aid in order to profit from food sales. On several occasions over the years, hostages have escaped and been imprisoned and returned by civilians.

There are limits to my sympathy for people whose chosen government is dedicated to the elimination of the people next door for purely religious reasons.

In 1947 the UN voted to establish two states at the end of mandate Palestine, the Palestinian ruling council refused, the British would not enforce the states as the Palestinians did not agree. The Arab League voted for military action in December 1947.

Israel declared independence at the end of the mandate and had been invaded by 7 nations of the Arab League by 9am the following morning. 10 months later, Israel won the war. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Illegally annexed the West Bank in an attempt to unite the East and West Banks, and Egypt annexed Gaza. Nothing has changed from that day to this.
