I mean eventually it will, yeah. The question is when that, "eventually" will be.

When we have AGI (or ASI) - which seems like a near to at worst mid term thing at this point, when we have humanoid robots that can do things as well as humans (which an ASI would be able to help develop, and probably rather quickly), etc, the need for humans sorta plummets in terms of work.

I'm not saying all of this will happen immediately - Sam Altman himself said he thinks it's going to take place over a few decades, but I do in fact see it happening over the long-term.

No reason to hire a human for something a robot can do better, and whether you think that's in 5 years, 50 years or 500 years, it will eventually happen. And I tend to think it'll happen a lot closer to 5 years (though probably not all totally in 5 years) than 50 or 500.

Remember, our current mode of economic production (industrialization) has only existed for **250 years**. Acting like it is some endless state of nature for humanity, when it's probably just the transitional state between thousands of years of predominately agricultural work, and automation of all work is silly.

I suspect in 1000-2000 years, when humanity looks back at our era, we're going to be grouped in with everything from 1750 to probably 2050, and it will be labeled "Automation Era - the time when humans stopped having to toil for survival, and gradually let machines do all the work"
