I hate to be that guy but let me show you why, it's brutally simple. First lets establish one thing, all money does is act as a "mediator" when trading products or services.

If I needed, let's say a $50,000 yearly income for every person in the US, we would need to distribute 16 trillion dollars a year.

* First option: Print 18 trillion dollars, but that wouldn't work because all it would do is cause severe inflation due to the money not being tied to any work (products or services). * Second Option: Tax Businesses more, the current tax on businesses is around 20-25%. To afford to pay everyone you'd need to increase taxes by about 3x, or around 60-70 percent. This would bankrupt almost every business. Also the average businesses profit margin is 7.7%. This would strip them of most all their profits and they potentially lose more money then ever on bad years. This incentivizes people to not start businesses or be productive. This would cause the economy to collapse and innovation to come to a screeching halt * Third option: Keep on working. AI will take some jobs, and thats ok. But it by no means will destroy most/all jobs, they'll still be PLENTY of work. Let's talk about farming for example. One man in a modern tractor can do what it took a hundred people to do a in a week 200 years ago, but did it destroy agriculture jobs? Absolutely not.

AI won't end jobs and a UBI would be absolutely detrimental to the economy. There's so much fear mongering to sift through these days I know.
