I think consumers are overreacting tbh.

There’s like 100 posts about people not having Sky’s voice on my feed rn.

I really don’t think OpenAI is panicking. I think they’re making decisions that you may be missing context on.

I don’t have a firm opinion on the playground UI, but I imagine it’s just low on their priority list. It’s sort of a niche for just low usage programmers really.

The GPT store I think was actually a great idea. It allows not technical people to get access to better specialized models. Like VanillaGPT was hallucinating answers for Final Cut Pro for me - I found a custom GPT where someone organized data that gave much better answers.

The model iterations aren’t rushed little hack jobs. It’s part of their whole deployment ideology. Iterative deployment. Some people think one model is worst than the last, usually not true on the whole. Like for a while people complained that GPT went waaaaaay too long. Then the next iteration it was significantly better at being concise, but it started truncating code more often. Then the fixed that, but then people complained it rubber banded a bit to being more long winded - but still better at both coding and writing than where it started.

And I don’t know about small changes. ChatGPT has only been around for a year and a half. Very few software companies have released as big of things as them in that time. They also are doing way more PR and lobbying (probably) than almost any other company is doing. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes.
