Republicans constantly talk about the economy. Most notably, they criticize the Democrats whenever they are in power for their supposed economic failures.

The Democrats do not respond in kind.

As a result, the public tends to associate the Republicans with being the party of the economy and the Dems being the folks who are too nice and not business-savvy enough to be good at economic management. It isn't just young males.

This is a horrendous PR failure by the Dems. But it would not be difficult to fix with some improved messaging.

The Dems need to make a practice of constantly attacking the GOP for its lack of competence and patriotism.

When Trump was in office, the Dems should have beat the drum about the Trump Depression (which is exactly what it was, with 14% unemployment and falling GDP.) The public should have been told that they deserved better.

When Trump groveled to Putin, they should have mocked him for being weak and hating America. The public should have been told that they deserved someone who didn't humiliate the nation.

But the Dems do none of that. The failure to rebrand the Republicans for being an inept party looks like this.
