Yoooo, I was super tired and stoned when I wrote my last comment, so it might've been all over the place. Just to clear things up, your question about trillions going to OpenAI is kinda misleading. Neither Altman nor I were saying that. Altman was talking about the broader investment needed in AI infrastructure and regulation, not just money for OpenAI.

A lot of that money would probably go into building chip fabs, which we desperately need. With the threat of China possibly invading Taiwan, being caught without enough chip fabs in the US would be a disaster. We're way too dependent on TSMC for our chips, and it's a huge security risk. We should've never been in this situation. The CHIPS for America Act, for instance, has about $52 billion set aside for domestic semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing.

Also, the idea that OpenAI would directly build and operate these fabs isn't entirely accurate. The funds raised would more likely be funneled into existing leading-edge chip manufacturers like TSMC, Samsung Electronics, NVIDIA, and potentially Intel. This strategy is intended to boost the production capacity of AI chips by leveraging the expertise and existing infrastructure of these major players rather than starting from scratch. Which isn't to say I trust any one of these corporations, just saying that it's a highly complex situation, much of which is currently speculative.

As for the average Joe's role in AI and big issues: we're all super interconnected. Nothing happens in a vacuum. It's important to recognize this and keep our egos in check. Jeff Bezos is no more or less important than any homeless person in the grand scheme of things. Seeing the world this way helps build empathy and compassion.

Working on being more compassionate and understanding is just as important as any tech advancement. If we don't tackle the division tearing our country apart, we're heading for ruin. We need unity, kindness, and compassion, even when the world spits in our face. Every action we take has a ripple effect, and no interaction is insignificant.

I urge everyone to dig deeper into these connections. Be good to the homeless, understand their pain, and see them as equals. Don’t just label someone as worthless. Try to understand why they are the way they are from a place of empathy.
