I had a MBP and its a nice laptop to work with if you like MacOS. The thing is that gpu computing support on the M series cpus isn't quite as advanced as it is for nvidia gpus so you might be running into issues. That being said, most people don't really run experiments on their laptop but rather use it as a development tool and experiments are done on a server. In that case, your laptop specs don't matter at all.
